As well as being the co-owner of CD Unsigned.com, Pauline Golds is also an innovative and inspiring singer-songwriter in her own right.
She started composing in her teenage years, writing folk songs, but gave it all up to raise a family.
And now, she is back and is currently writing new compositions in a host of different genres.
Pauline's current writing style is a far cry from the folk ballads she used to write; her tracks now adopting a more contemporary feel, with intellectual, perceptive and often controversial lyrics.
This EP is made up of songs that whilst having a variation of themes, all have one thing in common. They are about perception. The way in which people perceive others and themselves. The way in which we stereotype and feel the need to conform to the "norms". Anyone who reaches beyond the accepted boundaries is targeted and singled out. We do it to others and we confine ourselves by fooling ourselves into believing if we don't have and do what is acceptable in our society then we will be the one targeted.
These songs are not just based on my own experiences. But they are written from the heart and based on injustices i have seen around me all my adult life. Most are not new ideas but I have tried to write truthfully and directly about issues as I perceive them. It is just my personal perception and not a collection of universal truths but if in some small way they provoke thought and in doing so move a mind slightly away from cultured conformity then I am happy to share.
